Water-based monotypes, 14x17 inches each, 2025-26. Painted in Ponce, Puerto Rico and printed at Mirabo Press in Buffalo, New York.
Alluvium, referring to sediment (in this case, pigment) deposited through the movement and passage of water. Flowing water, in imagery, material, and process, these works are created in collaboration and co-creation with the unknown. The material instability of combining various water-based pigments and the moist environment in which the images were painted creates unexpected results. Only by transferring the pigments to paper through the immense pressure of the printing press, does the true image reveal itself. This allows for a dynamic energy to take place; landscapes become realms of the soul, the watery forms echoing the inner mystery.
