In this series, I am leaning into the element of synchronicity in the work. The imagery is available to me through randomness and chance; the magazine source material I come across is not within my control. This aspect of the unknown drives the process. It is my task as the artist to sift through the material, to gain access to that images and subject matter which best resonate within my psychic space. Pictures of landscapes, human and non human life figures, artifacts and symbolic imagery, swaths of color and space, all evoking a sense of deep time. Curating and combining various elements allows me to approach the imaginal, symbolic realm in the creation of these works. I am using pictures of ‘real’ places, figures, and things to describe the archetypal. The resulting collages and monotypes transcend the known to create a psycho-mythic realm of pure forms.
