About
Bio: Lucy Kay Simoneit (née Plowe, b. 1998) is a nomadic artist, scholar and yogi. Primarily making paintings with oil pigments and wax, Lucy’s practice extends across drawing and collage. Her work approaches both the observed and the mystical aspects of the earth and consciousness; traversing the landscape is an essential component of her creative process and spiritual practice. Lucy graduated from Cornell University in 2020, where she studied Fine Art alongside religious studies, ancient cultures, and art history. At Cornell, she was the recipient of the Elsie Dinsmore Popkin Painting Award in 2020 and the Kip Brady Prize for Printmaking in 2018. Lucy earned her MFA in Painting with a Printmaking concentration at the New York Academy of Art in 2023, where she was a recipient of the Dana Schutz Patrons Scholar Award and the Kylemore Abbey Artist Residency in Galway, Ireland. Primarily based in Arizona and New Hampshire, Lucy’s peripatetic life takes her across the USA, which allows her to witness the diversity and breadth of the landscape wherever she finds herself.
Lucy is also a certified yoga teacher, having completed 200 hours in Vinyasa Yoga with Jamie Surya in Piermont NY, and 20 hours in Prenatal Yoga with Gila Shire in Phoenix AZ.
